Room 97 is run by proprietor Karen alongside a team of stylists, colourists and educators — the kind of room where people train the next generation as seriously as they look after their own clients. Names you’ll meet across the salons include Beth, Umi, Laura and Amy.
It’s built on regulars — clients who come back to the same hands for years, and trust them with every restyle, every colour change and every wedding morning. That loyalty is the whole point.

As L’Oréal Professionnel colour specialists we work the full spectrum — virgin-hair balayage softly lifted and toned, full-head highlights with root infill, colour corrections and the lived-in tones that grow out without a hard line. Finished and protected with Kérastase and Metal Detox.
Every appointment starts with a real consultation: what your hair can take, what suits you, and what keeps it healthy. Honest first, beautiful second — they tend to be the same thing.

Room 97 has been named North Western Hairdresser of the Year five times and counts British Hairdressing Awards wins among its honours — recognition earned on the competition stage, not bought on a banner.
Most recently, our colourist Laura reached the UK semi-finals of the L’Oréal Colour Trophy 2026, the industry’s longest-running colour competition. We let the work say it, but the trophies are a useful shorthand: the colour here is in expert hands.

Where to start……Well got up this morning knowing I had a hair appt at 1.45, really felt like crap and even considered cancelling my appt, but thought better of it so in I went. Not really knowing what or how I wanted it cut, but after speaking with Meghan, and not really able to give her much to go on she seemed to get my brief, how the hell she did that I will never know. And the colour was another thing altogether. I had messed with it so much I thought it was a lost cause. I actually came away ecstatic…… The colour is amazing and looks so natural, the cut is unbelievable, she has gone above and beyond anything I thought possible. She certainly worked her magic on me today . Thank you Meghan, you are a superstar. P.S ….My partner came to pick me up and he said “That is The best cut and colour you have ever had = Happy days. After all these years I have now found a great stylist. Thanx again. Why is it every time I find a good stylist they take off on maternity leave . So today I meet the very love Beth, she worked her magic and I am over the moon, I will return and hopefully the very Talented Beth will still be there. Thank you once again. Happy indeed

I had my second appointment with Beth today for a clearance, cut and finish, and I couldn't be happier with the results. I first came to Beth three months ago in what felt like a complete hair emergency! From the very beginning, she was incredibly friendly, understanding, and helpful. Today's cut and finish was fantastic, and the blow-dry was honestly the best I've ever had 😍 My hair looks amazing, and I'm so excited to continue the journey with Beth. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a stylist who is talented, professional, and genuinely cares about helping you achieve your hair goals.

Amy did an amazing job as always. I honestly feel like she knows what I want better than I do sometimes! She listened carefully, gave great recommendations, and the results turned out even better than I expected. My hair was looking a bit flat and lifeless before, but she completely transformed it — it now feels so glossy, healthy, and refreshed.
